Pressed Equal Y-Piece Rigid Duct Part

With the use of an Equal Y Piece, extraction systems can be conveniently split so that air can be drawn from, or move on through, two separate lengths of ducting. This is particularly useful if you are extracting air from two grow areas that you wish to move on to a single outlet point.

How the Pressed Equal Y Piece Works:

The Y Piece is a simple way to split ducting in extraction systems off into two directions. Manufactured from extremely tough galvanised steel, these connecting segments are highly robust and durable.

How to use the Pressed Equal Y Piece:

Y Pieces can be connected to the ducting in your extraction system using duct tape or, ideally, a duct clip.

Suitably matched female to female couplings should be used to join the Y Piece to rigid ducting or to other connecting segments. The female to female coupling has a slightly larger diameter than the Y Piece, and fits over the two at the join. Any gaps can then be sealed off with duct tape.

It’s important to note that using this Y Piece to move air from two grow areas with a single duct fan does not make for the most effective extraction strategy. If the two pieces of ducting connected to the Y Piece at the ‘dual end’ are not of exactly the same length and straightness, there will be a difference in pressure and one area will have its air drawn away more effectively than the other. Ideally, each individual grow space should be equipped with its own duct fan and carbon filter.

Y Pieces can also be used to connect two full extraction systems, each with its own duct fan and filter, to a single outlet point. It should be noted that, though this is more effective than extracting air from 2 points with a single duct fan, it can still have an adverse effect on the efficiency of your extraction system.
